On December 17, the National Foundation Against Cancer, Movicáncer, received a donation of 200,000 córdobas from the Nicaraguan microfinance company FUNDENUSE to support the implementation of the Rehabilitation of the Pressotherapy and Breast Prosthesis Workshop project that Movicancer will start up in the coming weeks at the Bertha Calderón Women’s Hospital.
The donation was received at FUNDENUSE’s headquarters in the city of Ocotal by Movicancer’s Deputy Director, Mr. Benito Martínez Granera, who expressed his gratitude for this demonstration of social commitment within the framework of FUNDENUSE’s CSR for labor rehabilitation initiatives and improving the living conditions of women battling breast and cervical cancer at the Bertha Calderón hospital.
“For Movicancer this donation is very important because it comes from an organization with Nicaraguan DNA as FUNDENUSE. We thank them for being present with this support for an initiative that will soon become a reality and will benefit more than 1,500 women throughout the country who are mastectomized every year,” said Mr. Granera upon receiving the donation from this microfinance institution.
The donation was handed over by the legal representative of FUNDENUSE, María de los Ángeles Pérez Icaza, who on behalf of her organization said she was pleased to be doing her part to support women whose health has been damaged by cancer.
“From FUNDENUSE we place great value on our Corporate Social Responsibility and that is why we are honored and pleased to support Movicancer for the Labor Rehabilitation Workshop, so that these women continue to feel useful, included and continue to generate income for their families while they fight their disease,” said Ms. Perez Icaza.
Movicancer is the National Cancer Foundation that works in alliance to prevent cancer and reduce the suffering it causes. In 2025 it will celebrate 15 years of tireless work in the development of strategies to strengthen health services in Nicaragua, focused on reducing the burden of cancer, respecting cultural identity and promoting the improvement of the quality of life of Nicaraguans in the face of cancer.
