Who are we and what do we do?

Fundación Movicancer is a Non-Governmental, Scientific, Non-Profit Organization, founded by academics and professionals with vast experience in the public sector and NGOs, whose mission is to work in alliances to prevent cancer and reduce the suffering it causes.

What does it mean to be a Non-Profit Institution?

Non-profit organizations are characterized and differ from commercial institutions because there is no distribution of profits among its members; All profits obtained from any fundraising activity, whether through the #WearWithPurpose® store and other private donations in their totality are used to achieve its goals and objectives, therefore, they do not pursue a personal interest.

How are the Foundation’s projects and programs financed?

All projects and programs of the Movicancer Foundation are financed through donations made by individuals inside and outside the country committed to the fight against cancer.

Movicancer Foundation also accepts donations made by other Foundations, Associations, International/Multilateral Agencies, Governments and private initiatives (after scrutiny).

The funds raised by unrestricted donations or other initiatives allow the Movicancer Foundation to promote and develop projects and programs aimed at strengthening the effectiveness of public care, improving the quality of life of cancer patients, which ultimately allows them to win the battle against cancer. These donations also finance research that allows us to understand the “causes of the causes”, in order to improve or propose the necessary public policies, and develop initiatives for the prevention and early detection of Cancer at the community level.

Movicancer Foundation does not accept donations from companies related to the tobacco industry, weapons, or the ultra-processed food industry.

The Movicancer Foundation does not request or accept donations from political parties, nor does it get involved in party activities, nor does it opine on any political ideology.

Where do the funds raised go?

The donations received by private donors and private institutions and companies are allocated to the different programs and projects that we promote from the Movicancer Foundation. Every time you donate online, by wire transfer or by check, you support our work and help us reach our goal of “preventing cancer and reducing the suffering it causes.”

What experience does the Movicancer Foundation have?

Movicancer Foundation has a multidisciplinary team with great prestige and national and international recognition. Among other activities, we work on:

  1. Psycho-social support for cancer patients with emphasis on early access to treatment and Psycho-oncology approach to women and children, through the program: “Road to Recovery”.
  2. Education and training for doctors and nurses who attend cancer prevention programs in order to strengthen local capacities and quality of care, in the preventive field as well as cancer care.
  3. The strengthening of the Public Health System oriented to the cancer control and Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD), as well as their adjacent causes.
  4. Strengthening and creation of public policies, advocacy and public and institutional dissemination aimed at the cancer control and other NCDs.
  5. Strengthening and/or development of Information Systems that allow decision-making based on evidence.
  6. Introduction of new technologies with a cost-efficiency/cost-benefit approach in order to strengthen prevention actions and early detection of preventable cancers.

In recent years, we have made significant progress in reducing cervical cancer nationwide. We are committed to reaching new milestones, and more recently we have set out to reduce breast cancer mortality by strengthening early detection capabilities by trained doctors and nurses, as well as access to high-cost medicines that are not supplied by public hospitals.

  1. Cancer control involves
    • Primary prevention (vaccines)
    • Secondary prevention (screening), diagnosis, treatment, palliative care, rehabilitation and data recording.
  2. Control of NCDs implies
    • Actions against tobacco use and cessation, obesity, physical activity, alcohol consumption, clinical management of patients, among others.

Is there a hiring and internship policy?
